I was up at 5am this morning after having been up for over 24 hours and only 4 hours of sleep. The morning was still. As we neared Bethlehem Jewish settlements and the wall became a dominating narrative. Crossing through the check point was easy. Passing through the wall there was an immediate contrast in the apparence of living standards. Bethlehem is described by those who live there as a Prison of sorts. We arrived in Bethlehem greated by George, the local producer of the recent Pope visit and event there in Manger Square. We walked the Peace Center and the local streets surrounding the immediate area...Children begged constantly for money.
Our meeting with Sami and George proved extremely productive. We returned to Jerusalem...the wall brought us to a stop...Marc and I took photos...messages and pictures from the wall cried tears of frustration, disbelief, sadness and hope...such a profound reminder of how fear serves as a wall that insulates us from the love inside that connects us all. We pray that music of divine inspiration will help to remove such barriers so that we can again remember how all are one united in love.
